Crossroads: Horn to Home

Melbourne, Australia

Schoolhouse Studios

"Crossroads: Horn to Home" is an exploration of migration, memory, and the reimagining of home. Curated by GULEDARCHIVE, this exhibition brings together six East African artists to reflect on stories of displacement, resilience, and belonging. It marks forty years since the arrival of the first Black African refugees from the Horn of Africa to Australia, creating a space to honor their journeys.

Rooted in the textures, objects, and urban memories of the Horn, the exhibition constructs a nostalgic environment—one that invites an intimate engagement with the everyday experiences that migrants carry with them. Through digital works, visuals, and installations, the artists weave together personal and collective narratives, reflecting on the shifting nature of home and identity.

This project was made possible through the contributions of Aysha Tufa, who led the project; Beaziyt Worcou, who provided graphic design work; Yasmin, who produced the launch space and night; and the talented artists Nadia Faragaab, Sarah Said, Abdullahi Yusuf, Ammar Yonis, Beaziyt Worcou, and Guled Elyas.
